Biomimetic Nanobots for Autonomous and Eco-Friendly Heavy Metal Soil Remediation

Heavy metal contamination threatens agriculture, ecosystems, and human health, yet existing remediation techniques are often slow, costly, or disruptive. This work presents a conceptual framework for biomimetic nanobots designed specifically for soil remediation, integrating graphene-based protective structures, gold nanolens sensing, DNA-based actuation, silica-encapsulated pseudo-organelles, and carbon nanotube (CNT) communication. The study also introduces both a baseline mechanically driven nanobot and an AI-assisted architecture, supported by computational modeling and a technology readiness assessment, providing a roadmap toward future experimental realization.
